Description
-
William Brade (1560-1630) composed this tune. It is possible that it was written in Hamburg, and we do not know what Brade’s connection with Cornwall or Cornish music of the era was. Presumably Cornish dancing or tunes were known more widely outside of Cornwall at this time. Brade also wrote an Irish and Scottish dance as part of the same suite of tunes.
Mike O’Connor included this tune in his book Ilow Kernow.
